Course Description:

Intentioned with an open focus and an inquiring mind we will nourish the body’s touch receptors with full, soft and supported touch for self and with partner. In this workshop we will practice receiving and giving touch that FEELS good, delivering a feeling experience that supports and inspires the parasympathetic response mechanism. Touch that is in harmony with the nervous system ie. safe, comforting, supporting.., speaks directly into a learning process of how it feels to be more relax and awake. This simple and profound dialogue in touch information tells the receiver about how they can be and move with positive felt-integration! With a daily dose of self-care practice, this positive feeling experience can be recalled and developed into a useful life-long habit.

INTRODUCTION TO THE TRAGER APPROACH

A unique, neuromuscular approach to body and movement re-patterning. The Trager® Approach is a health enhancing system of movement therapy that consists of dancelike movements intended to evoke sensations of freedom and lightness.

This CE course stands alone and also serves as a prerequisite for LEVEL 1 Trager®. You’ll deepen your experience of Movement Mentastics through demonstrations and supervised practice. Trager® is a valuable approach for anyone who wants to elevate awareness in themselves and their clients.

WHY INTRO TO TRAGER?

  • Learn a system of dance like movements to facilitate greater ease in yourself and your clients.

  • The Movement Mentastics have been likened to ancient, formless tai chi and chi gung, according to Master Huang and the Table Work has been described as exhilarating, deeply relaxing and highly effective for many physical challenges.

  • Increase your awareness.

  • Deepen skills at helping others re-connect to their body.

  • Deepen your capacity to live in presence in work and in life.

WHAT IS TRAGER

Trager® tablework consists of deep, fluid rocking movements (oscillations) of muscles and joints combined with compression and gentle traction. This feeds into the nervous system resulting in dramatic muscular relaxation, along with feelings of lightness, freedom, and flexibility. The client is also shown simple movements called Mentastics which helps integrate the profound changes in the body.

TRAGER HAS BEEN EFFECTIVE WITH:

While the following beneficial effects have been reported, Trager is not a substitute for traditional medical care:

  • Improved balance and decreased spasticity

  • Dissolution of internalized effects of trauma in the body

  • Greater ease and joy of movement with decrease of pain

  • Deeper feelings of personal integration and peace and decreased anxiety

COURSE FEATURES

By the end of this workshop, you should be able to:

  • Practice Trager principles both within Trager and apply them to other modalities.

  • Learn to create and discover movements for yourself and others based on Mentastics Principles.
