President's Message - December 2021

Dear Members,

We’re excited about our upcoming developments for 2022…

NEW MANAGEMENT

We’re enthusiastic about starting work with the team at Next Wave Group LLC, our new association management company as of January! We first heard about this company from the president of IASI (International Association of Structural Integrators), who spoke highly of it, especially since it specializes in managing small nonprofit associations. Next Wave is located outside of Annapolis MD, but it became a virtual office in 2006.

Our Executive Director will be Joann Francavilla, and she will be supported by the owner of Next Wave Group, Patricia Troy, and by a network of skilled independent contractors who will perform services such as bookkeeping. We’ll have access to a variety of experts in-house to continue to grow and develop USTA. You’ll hear more about Next Wave Group in the coming weeks. NWG will handle the membership renewal, which will begin in January.

We’re grateful beyond words to Renae Davies and Greydan Communications for being our management company these last four years. Their beyond-exceptional service and caring oversight of USTA helped usher in a beautiful online presence, improved clarity in structure and leadership, new zoom classes, and so much more.

MEMBER CLASSES FOR 2022

To show our appreciation and to offset the cost of membership dues, we’re offering members these classes next year:

  1. Trager® and Trauma Informed Touch, The instructor will share invaluable wisdom on touching people deeply and safely. (1.5 hours, zoom)

  2. What I’ve gleaned from Trager® with Gail Stewart. One of Milton’s first students and Instructors originating from the Esalen years, Gail has assimilated Trager into a transformative approach to life, movement, bodywork and Buddhist studies. Come hear Gail’s tales! (1.5 hours, zoom)

  3. Ongoing Mentastics for Members. You’re invited to ongoing Mentastics Friday mornings. We’re grateful for our wonderful Mentastics leaders who offer weekly respite and recharge. By the way, we’ll be moving the recordings of these Friday sessions to the Members Only section of the website, since many of the Mentastics leaders agree that the their sessions are aimed at people already familiar with Trager, and not the general public.

  4. Universal Hook-up. Highlighting the spiritual underpinnings of Trager, our wonderful Fawn Christianson will lead worldwide hook up on the third Wednesday’s from 12:30-1pm, Eastern time, zoom. Members from around the world are invited to recharge with the life force that Milton so fully embodied and shared. Look forward to occasional special guests from our worldwide community.

  5. Trager-Inspired work for TMJ. This class is designed half as theory, to describe TMJ physiology and pathology, and half to show effective ’noodling’ around the head, jaw, and neck, sometimes lightly, sometimes deeply, from a Trager sensibility. With Joe Rodin (1.5 hours, zoom).

As our organization is evolving, we are so grateful for every single person in the Trager community. We welcome everyone’s insights, contributions, and hookup, and we welcome your considering how you might join in making USTA all it can be and all you want it to be in this coming year.

Joe Rodin, USTA President
