Since 1989, Instructor Roger Tolle, has taught the Trager Approach to hundreds of students in 16 countries on five continents. Classes include introductory through advanced professional levels of the Trager Certification Training Program, workshops on movement and presence for bodyworkers, specially designed programs for conferences and schools, and a popular series of workshops in Movement and Transformation. He is deeply involved in the training and mentoring of a new generation of Trager Instructors.
He has a B.A. in Theater/Movement, and spent 15 years as a professional modern dancer embodying fluidity, ease, power, clarity, and a wide-ranging vocabulary of movement. Extensive study with Dr. Milton Trager, and with other pioneers in the field of movement education, including Judith Aston, Beverly Brown, Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen, Emily Conrad, and Deane Juhan brought him a thorough working knowledge of function in motion. Decades of further training in Gyrotonics, Kundalini and Ashtanga Yoga, Insight meditation, Body Electric erotic energy transformation, Surrogate Partner Therapy, as well as his practice of daily movement meditations have steeped him in the interconnected influences of mind and body. As one of his long time students remarked, “He lives what he teaches.”
In 1999 he left a full time Trager practice in New York City to move to Charlottesville, VA. When not on the road teaching, he maintains a practice there as well as in Silver Spring, MD, where he also directs and teaches an intensive Trager Certification Series.
In 2003, Mr. Tolle developed and produced three decks of Body ReMinder Playing Cards for Trager International. He also writes articles, blogs and podcasts about the work. Since 2010 he produced a number of instructional videos for students to use during their fieldwork, including: Moving into Agelessness, This Feeling, Level I Review, Level II Review, Level III Review, and Sidelying in Practice. These popular informational tools and teaching aids are available on this USTA website and at RogerTolle.com.
