Claremont, CA June 5, 2020 – Local author Carolyn Mason celebrates her forty-two-year friendship with Doris Drucker with a memoir. Carolyn Mason and Doris Drucker were Claremont neighbors and friends. Over forty-two years, that friendship grew in ways neither of them expected. They exchanged drawings, handwritten letters, notecards, and even took trips together to explore Japanese art collections. One day, Doris gave Carolyn the biggest surprise of all, a mystery message in the form of a box. With that message, Carolyn discovered a different level of awareness about life and death. She discovered her gratitude for all the friends, family, and even the pets that enrich her life.
[Excerpt] “Over the last few years, I had watched her strong independent spirit lash out at the incompetence of all the folks who didn’t have the wisdom of her years and experiences. I had watched those legs that could rush the net in a tennis match, give out on her as she tried to stand and walk at times.
