I am so happy to see the growing flowers in my yard, to hear the sounds of birds, and to feel the warmth of the sun. Magnificence is in these simple pleasures! I find it easy to forget how powerful simple is. I sometimes need the reminder to take some time to appreciate it.
As a practitioner, don’t let yourself get caught up in a bunch of moves. The moves are a way to get to the principles! It is not about the moves, especially getting them all into a session just because we learned them in our classes. It is about the “golden nuggets” or those small awarenesses that lead us to change. The principles of ease, freedom, nothing that makes Trager so brilliantly unique.
I know I have been caught up in trying to help a client so much that I overwhelmed their nervous system and they didn’t feel like I did anything. Even though I just spent 90 minutes weighing, and rocking, and lulling them! I’m really understanding the concept of less is better.
My favorite part of a session is when my client lights up from a new awareness. A realization of a pattern that could be contributing to their pain, or a new sensation that was before unfamiliar. I think of these as golden nuggets, a very important key learning moment. If that is what they walk away with that day, only one, then I know they have something to focus on at home. It is in no way insignificant when a client gets the feeling of the weight of their arm, maybe for the first time, maybe not the first time. It is changing a pattern!
I know many seasoned Practitioners have had many more years to experience with this, and I always love and need to hear their wisdom again and again. I encourage you to find peace in less. Don’t over complicate your sessions, don’t try to do it, but to enjoy the process. As I have been thoroughly enjoying watching my flowers grow from the ground. I also enjoy watching and observing my clients transform, in their time, not mine.
As people are feeling more comfortable going out, joining in-person classes, and giving more sessions, keep in mind this idea of simple, because it is the small moments that create big changes.
Spring Blessings to you all and enjoy the thought that simple is more than enough!
Be well,
