Happy January everyone!
There is a movement happening around movement! Have you seen it? I find myself stumbling upon people in other practice forms using terms like, “somatic”, “ functional patterns”, “re-patterning”, “healing through movement”, “postural habit re-education” and so many more all over social media. It is so exciting to me.
Organizations like ISMETA (The International Somatic Movement Education and Therapy Association) are increasing its presence, and membership continues to increase. The USTA is now an affiliated professional member of ISMETA. It seems to me that membership in this organization is going to greatly improve our visibility as more and more people want to learn about how mindfully directed movements have great healing potential.
Did you know that you can become a registered somatic movement therapist (RSMT). To do so, you need to fulfill certain requirements, a certain number of hours of training / practice (500 hours) which is beyond the hours in a core Trager curriculum. Depending on your practice, it may serve you very well. I highly recommend that you look into it further, I am!
If you don’t already know about it, ISMETA is hosting a live online conference called Engaging Embodiment in March. Our very own Richard Mack is presenting! Congratulations Richard! I’m sure I speak for all of the members in wishing you huge success! We are all supporting you!
You can learn more at ismeta.org.
Be well everyone!
