Dear Trager friends,
Barbara Allin was a fixture in Northwest Trager classes and gatherings for many years. She was a friend of Betty Fuller and assisted her whenever possible. She had great touch skills and was frequently asked to help with students and practitioners who were having issues with their bodies or simply “not getting it”. She loved children and worked on many children of Trager families. Her laugh was delightful and infectious. Barbara was generous with her time and skills. She gave a lot to the Trager community over the years. She loved hot Thai food and was known to send her order back to the kitchen when they gave her the American version of five stars.

Barbara’s Obituary…
Barbara Allin passed away peacefully on November 10, 2019 surrounded by family, at the age of 88. Born and raised in Marquette, Michigan to H.R. and Tommy, the youngest of two very loved and active daughters. She participated in many sports, band, and the arts. She went to on to graduate from Augustana School of Nursing in Chicago, before marrying Rev. Ronald Allin. Together they went on to have 5 children, Nancy, David, Mark, Linda, and Peter. Despite a full house, and busy schedule, she continued to work in the nursing field (pediatrics to cardiac intensive care) and maintained an active role in the church as a minister’s wife. She was a mentor and mother figure to many of those around her. Barb and Ronn separated in the early 80's, and she moved to Portland shortly thereafter. She loved life and lived hers to the fullest!
Barb was an avid reader, and student of health, healing and consciousness, as well as metaphysics and astrology. She excelled at healing modalities including Trager® Bodywork, Craniosacral Therapy, and Myofascial Release. She studied, and later taught with the originators of both, Dr. Milton Trager and Dr. Robert Upledger, as well as John Barnes, PT. She had a private practice in Portland that she continued to see clients until the last few years of her life.
Even as dementia began taking her short-term memory Barb remained active in life, gardening, living independently and driving until October of this year. She returned from a flight to South Dakota on October 7th after visiting her much loved nieces, nephews, and their families. Shortly after her trip her health took a sudden turn, and she began a rapid decline leading to her transition on November 10th.
Barb took great joy in her 4 grandkids Jessica, Joshua, Darren, and Marshal, along with her 5 great-grandkids Lukas, Isabelle, Amelie, Autumn, and Eden. She had a huge heart and an indomitable spirit and will be greatly missed by many.
In lieu of a memorial service, we have opted to create this memorial online where anyone who wishes may share a memory, story, or a picture. We felt it was the best way to create a celebration of her life.
