Trager as a ”Personal Growth Model” - A Way of Being with Oneself and Others

“Self care is what we are handing off to our clients” - Michael Lear, Trager Instructor

Dear Trager Colleagues,

I had the honor and privilege of assisting Michael Lear during his Trager Essentials class here in Easton, Pennsylvania on March 13-14, 2021 at NuHOUSE, a beautiful, spacious venue that provides a modern holistic health environment while at the same time embracing ancient healing modalities.

Our group, including those completely new to Trager, spent two days together which culminated into a deep connection that facilitated new awareness in self-care, utilizing Trager principles and touch awareness.

Michael, as a guide, offered profound and fun Mentastics that gave way to us all opening up to new possibilities in our own bodies. The class then shared table time exploring touch while using what was received during Mentastics as a base for deep “listening” while with a partner.

We all left very full and in joy having experienced Trager as a ”personal growth model”, a way of being with oneself and others. Here are some of Michael’s offerings during the class.

“Who I am to myself and others is my ‘community service’.”

“Who do I need to be to allow my client to feel safe?”

“How can I be more present?”

With client, “Work/play with what is available.”

“Stay connected to magnificence.”

“Feel what’s true in your own body. Be curious.”

“This work starts with you, the practitioner.”

To client: “I’m going to offer some options, share with me what works for you right in this moment.” (when client is coming into resistance)

“Staying fluid with my curiosity and exploration.”

“Sometimes we have boundaries we are not aware of.”

“Symptoms may not necessarily be the cause.”

“Stay curious when coming up to resistance.”

“Ask yourself after receiving Trager/giving Trager, ‘What would it be like if I felt like this  and even better in the days to come’.”

“Develop into a mindset of possibility.”

“As practitioners, draw on images that ‘light you up’.”

“Progress delivers happiness.”

“How one breathes is where the mind is at. Every emotion is in the breath pattern.”

“Building range of motion allows for trust and a pool of new data.”

“Trager Approach is a right message for right now.”

My Very Best,
