Midyear update from the Trager Foundation Board of Directors
The Trager Foundation is a non-profit, 501c3 organization, created in 2008 by the USTA as the Non-profit fund-raising arm of the USTA. It operates under the guidance of it’s Board of Directors. Mission of the Foundation is to support the work of Trager Practitioners by Providing educational scholarships, and to educate the public about the efficacy of The Trager Approach through research projects. Donations to the Trager Foundation are tax-deductible In the United States and fund the research and education needed to expand Dr. Trager’s work.
The Trager Foundation is pleased to announce the focus for 2020 is to raise sufficient funds to support and publish research that clearly demonstrates the positive impact Trager work has within the Integrative Care Movement which has been rapidly growing and accepted as effective complementary health care. A new website is now under construction which will help build Trager awareness and simplify the online donation process. Our website will be dedicated to showcasing and publishing individual Trager practitioner’s case studies worldwide.
The Trager Foundation Board of Directors thanks Dr. Michael Hillenbrand for his generous donation which helped fund and initiate this new website effort. Our thanks also go to Dr. Fernando Rojas for his generous donation and guidance in orchestrating this new effort of creating a global voice that will reach out beyond the Trager community. We appreciate your support!
The Trager Foundation is also happy to announce a joint initiative with Trager International in their new, global marketing effort called “Trager for ––”. The objective of this initiative is to invite individual practitioners to participate by providing success stories in which Trager has been shown to be beneficial with specific conditions. The first series will focus on “Trager for burnout,” which will be based on the work of Bill and Gabriela Scholl in Switzerland.
The Trager Foundation’s involvement in this initiative will be to bridge these social media stories to publishable case studies. The Trager Foundation website will provide simple, easy to use, case study templates making the process easy for Practitioners and simple for the reviewers who will provide the guidance needed to publish their work. These case studies will also be posted on the new Trager Foundation website. Documenting and publishing case studies is fundamental for the ultimate recognition of our work. As part of our mission, the Trager Foundation is excited to be offering this support towards educating the health care and scientific communities as well as the general public. This, we hope, will continue to grow Trager awareness.
Additionally, we are excited to welcome Jack Blackburn to our Board of Directors! For those of you who are not familiar with Jack’s work, he is a long-time Trager teacher who studied directly with Dr Trager. He is well respected both within the Trager community and by leading complementary health care leaders. Jack has published a number of papers over the years. His papers are highly recognized in the somatic re-education, movement therapy, mind-body awareness, and other care-givers’ communities as well. Jack is interested in lending his talents to structuring the research component of the foundation. It is our long-term goal to fund future research focused on what makes Trager and similar modalities relevant and effective in the total scope of health care.
Along with the recent addition to our Board of esteemed colleague, Dr. Ross Pastel, whose background has broadly expanded our understanding of case studies, we are well positioned to develop Trager awareness around the world. We thank all of you that have donated to the foundation over the years and we look forward to your continued support as we expand our scope of research, education and Trager awareness.
