US Foundation for Trager Education and Research - November 2019 Update

First the history

The United States Foundation for Trager Education and Research (Trager Foundation) was established in November 2008, and is the 501-c-3 non-profit, charitable arm of the United States Trager Association (USTA). Activities of the Trager Foundation include awarding educational scholarships for Trager certification training and research grants exploring the efficacy of Trager.

What we do

1.     Educational Scholarships

The Trager Foundation offers two educational scholarships for students who are actively pursuing Trager Practitioner certification and have financial need. Applications are submitted for review and scholarships are awarded based on available funds.

a.      The Betty Fuller Scholarship Fund awards up to 50% of the tuition for any Trager certification training.

b.     The Pay it Forward Scholarship Fund awards $500 towards the tuition for any Trager certification training. Recipients are encouraged to donate back to this fund after certification.

The Trager Foundation awarded three educational scholarships in 2018.

2.     Research Grants

The Research Fund supports clinical and scientific research into the efficacy of the Trager Approach. The Trager Foundation also supports ongoing research projects within the larger international Trager organization. Research Grants are awarded per project based on the available funds and value of the project to fulfill the mission of the Trager Foundation.

The Trager Foundation awarded one research grant in 2018, and plans to continue to grow this fund to offer additional grants in the future.

3.     Fundraising Campaigns New in 2018/2019

a.      Support the USTA Educational Conference and the creation of promotional material from that conference

b.      Support Trager presence at the AMTA Conference in Indianapolis

4.     National Trager Month

The Trager Foundation established National Trager Month, which is April each year in honor of Milton Trager whose birthday is in April. During this month we ask practitioners to consider donating the price they charge for a Trager session, to hold a viewing of Trager videos, to offer Trager lectures/ demos all with the goal of fundraising for the Trager Foundation.

Looking Ahead

As we move into finalizing our priorities for 2020, we ask for your continued support financially through your donations both during the time of USTA membership renewal in January as well as during National Trager Month in April. The Trager Foundation Board requests that donations be unrestricted so that the Foundation Board members can utilize the funds where they are most needed.

We also ask for communication from anyone interested in serving on the Trager Foundation Board of Directors and/or any of the support teams. Please send inquiries to foundation@tragerus.org.
